The Timeless Partnership: Music & Poetry

On a crisp March afternoon, a musical odyssey awaits, where the eloquence of verse entwines with musical harmony. Join us for an immersive experience where the profound interplay of great American verse and sublime melodies takes center stage for, “The Timeless Partnership: Music & Poetry”. This enchanting performance delves deep into the profound connection between music and poetry, showcasing the transformative power of singing.

Sunday, March 10th, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Vance Brand Civic Auditorium, 600 E. Mountain Ave., Longmont

At the heart of this performance lies an exploration of the enduring connection between music and poetry. The Chorale will breathe life into the masterful works of poets such as Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and Langston Hughes. These iconic American poets have not only left an indelible mark on literature, but their words have also served as a wellspring of inspiration for composers.

A special highlight of this concert is the inclusion of a guest choir from Skyline High School, bringing a fresh perspective and youthful vitality to the stage. Their presence promises to infuse the performance with a dynamic energy, further illuminating the enduring bond between music and poetry.

As the notes intertwine with the carefully chosen verses, a tapestry of emotions will unfold before the audience. From the grandeur of Whitman’s epic narratives to the tender introspection of Dickinson’s verses, each piece will resonate in its own unique way. The Chorale’s dedication to ‘Singing From Our Hearts to Yours’ ensures that this concert will invite the audience to connect with the profound truths woven into these literary and musical masterpieces.

This concert promises an afternoon of inspiration, so take up this invitation to a must see event, as the Chorale and their guest choir from Skyline High School stand ready to transport you to a realm where words take flight on the wings of music.

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the magic that unfolds when the arts join hands in perfect harmony!

The Longmont Chorale is under the direction of Artistic Director Nathan Wubbena and Associate Director Scott Hamlin, with Accompanist Karlie Carter and Accompanist Emeritus Karen Main.

What People Are Saying About the Longmont Chorale

“Scott, Ray, and the Longmont Chorale,

My heartfelt appreciation for your excellent work in Carmina. The Chorale was so very well prepared that it made it quite easy to put together. And the Chorale has grown so nicely under your leadership! Please extend my congratulations and appreciation to each and every member of your fine organization.”

Dr. Robert Olson

Conductor, Longmont Symphony Orchestra

“I love learning the history and context of the music we sing. I enjoy the opportunity to be a contributing member of a group that together produces such incredible music. I am so proud of the level of performance that we are able to share with our communities. Performing with a symphony and other musicians is an incredible privilege and thrill.

I appreciate being able to sing with a secular group that embraces many different types of people with many different beliefs. Our love of music, and our desire to share this love with our communities, is our common ground.

As I age, I enjoy the intellectual challenges that are presented while learning and performing music, and while supporting our organization. Like so many others, the Chorale enriches my life and my sense of well-being.”

Chorale Member

from Anonymous Feedback Surveys

“It was great to see the audience, both the number that you attract and the number of families. All of the logistics including the greeters at the door, people helping patrons find their seats, the intermission features and so forth made it very welcoming.

Finally, one of the most inspiring things about the group is its inclusiveness. Obviously this is visible when the Chorale is on stage, and I think that is a wonderful message to send to the singers, the audience, and all the young people who attend the concerts.”
