Our Tenor Soloist for Schubert's Mass in G
Dr. Cody Laun is a native of the Denver-metro region. He is in high demand along the Front Range, where he is frequently seen as a soloist with various opera companies and other organizations, and participates in several chamber music ensembles throughout the area, including Colorado Bach Ensemble, St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, and Anima Chamber Ensemble. He has also been seen regionally with various other arts organizations, such as Opera Colorado (Remendado, Borsa), Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Boulder Opera (Des Grieux, Nemorino, Tamino), Loveland Opera, Carbondale Arts, Opera Mississippi (Il Duca di Mantua, Roméo), Mobile Opera, The Denver Philharmonic, and The Muses Creative Artistry Project, among others. His competition credits include The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (district winner and regional finalist), NATSAA (national semi-finalist), and The Madame Rose Palmai-Tenser Competition (finalist).
His students have appeared with a number of different companies and organizations across the country and in the Denver area, including Ohio Light Opera, Opera Kansas Boulder Opera, Loveland Opera, and Opera Fort Collins, among others. They have won and placed in numerous competitions, including Inland Empire NATS, CO/WYO NATS, and the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition for Colorado Singers.
Currently, he holds positions as Adjunct Professor of Voice at The Lamont School of Music – University of Denver, Affiliate Professor of Voice at Colorado Christian University and has served on the faculty of Colorado State University as Special Assistant Professor of Voice.
His obsessions include his amazing wife, two beautiful children, hiking, craft beer, sci-fi and high fantasy reading, gluten-free baking, and exploring his Colorado home, with all the culture and scenery it has to offer.
