SUMMARY:
The Longmont Chorale is searching for a pianist skilled in accompanying various styles to play with Viva Voce during Monday regular evening rehearsals, dress rehearsals and in various performances throughout the season. Performances may include collaborations with the symphony, at certain Chorale concerts, outreach events, and feature concerts. Professional instrumentalists are often hired for the dress rehearsals and performances and play on select pieces. The Associate Accompanist will also need to be available to substitute as needed for our Accompanist and occasionally play on 4-hand pieces.
SCHEDULE:
Regular Viva Voce rehearsals are held in Longmont at Faith Community Lutheran Church on Mondays from 6:00-6:50 pm. The full (tentative) schedule for this season can be found HERE. (Additional rehearsals or performances may be added for collaborations with the symphony or otherwise)
THE ENSEMBLE:
Viva Voce is the auditioned chamber ensemble of the Longmont Chorale and is generally composed of 30-40 singers that also perform with the large non-auditioned ensemble. Viva Voce performs a variety of voicings, both accompanied and unaccompanied, from a variety of time periods and in a variety of styles. Some outside practice time may be required by individuals.
JOB DUTIES:
- Prepare for rehearsal as necessary.
- Attend and play for all weekly rehearsals for Viva Voce or assist in providing a substitute pianist, if requested, in the rare circumstances they cannot attend (at alternate sites as needed).
- Substituting for the Accompanist as needed.
- Attend and play at dress rehearsals and performances and assist with logistics as needed.
- Accompany guest artists for concerts, including requested rehearsals if your schedule allows.
- Solicit assistance such as page turning to facilitate concert performances.
- Assist in the creation of practice tracks, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the board of directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance or Music Education and/or significant experience accompanying ensembles
- Strong sight-reading skills and the ability to play musically and accurately in a variety of styles
- Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the individual ensemble
- Basic knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team
COMPENSATION AND HOURS:
This is a part-time stipend position which we anticipate will require 1-2 hours per week during our rehearsal weeks on average. Associate Accompanist stipend for the 2025-2026 season is $3,500, with annual raises possible. Some hours will be flexible but must accommodate our rehearsal and performance schedule. Pay is monthly in equal installments from August through June.

- Playing interview will be between 7:00-9:00 pm
