The Longmont Chorale presents “Salute in Song”
Featuring Dan Forrest’s ‘Requiem for the Living’, with a chamber orchestra
On Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Vance Brand Civic Auditorium
This concert offers a heartfelt homage to our military veterans, marking the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Join us at this performance to recognize the brave men and women who have served our nation with unwavering dedication.
A Requiem, at its core, is a prayer for rest – traditionally, for the deceased. Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living, however, forms a narrative just as much for the living, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow, as for the dead.
Through this and a selection of other powerful and stirring pieces, we aim to honor the sacrifice, courage, and resilience of our armed forces.
Let the timeless melodies be a collective salute, expressing our deepest gratitude to those who have served.
Vietnam Lapel Pin and Ceremony:
The Vietnam Lapel Pin is a distinctive pin which is presented to all eligible living Vietnam Era veterans during the Commemorative Pinning Event. This program has been established by the Department of Defense and the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration; this program is ending on Veterans Day 2025, and our concert will be one of the last opportunities to receive it in our area. The ceremony and pinning will be accompanied by music from the Longmont Chorale.
RSVP is not required to receive a pin.
Who is a Vietnam Veteran?
All veterans, men and women, who honorably served our country on active duty, regardless of where they served, with service from November 1, 1955 through May 15, 1975. Note: There is no requirement for the veteran to present evidence of their service to receive this pin. They may let their conscience serve as their guide.
